Will Richardson and David Warlick Part 1

Will Richardson's videos and his section on "Why Weblog?" are very crucial pieces of information for us upcoming teachers. We have all seen what Richardson is talking about in our schools. I have known close to four out of five people who do not read or write with enjoyment or have the intiative to learn, but instead use the computer habitually. Richardson was able to grasp that idea and be able to transform that technique into a teaching method because it is something that kids enjoy doing. He found an interest and an evolving area in education and went with it. His information blends in with the other articles required for the reading as well because along with using blogger and other programs on the internet or working offline, The students will have full control of their texts and creations. They already do something of the sort at home on their own free will without the instruction of teachers and dispersement of assignments. Technology is shown throughout all these pieces that it is an effective method of teaching not only because it broadens the use of technology, but because students are already taking the intiative. Giving them full control of their work creates a higher level of responsibility as well for the students.

Hey!

I agree with you on everything you have said. Will Richardson really laid it out for us in his pod-cast presentation. I think the responsibility aspect is a huge deal that we need to emphasize to students in a classroom. I personally hope that all the students will use their classmates as a sort of motivation to continue to keep their work up to date. Knowing their classmates and teacher are reading their work online will hopefully encourage them to use larger vocabulary, keep a closer eye out on grammer and punctuation, and it will really motivate them to write more and create a writing bond with the other students.
